Chesstor: A Virtual Reality Game

In my spring semester of my sophomore year, I worked on a project for a class called Problem Solving through XR, where for my final project, I collaborated with two other students to create a virtual reality game called Chesstor.

Concept
What's the game about?
Chesstor is a virtual reality game without much logic. You move around a 3D maze and avoid the enemy, who are enlarged chess pieces. You have a gun, and the goal is to reach the end of the maze.
The game was created in Unity, and we used the Meta Quest 3 to test it. The game was created over the course of a month, and we had to learn how to use the Meta Quest 3 and Unity's Meta Quest SDK to create the game.

Development
Process

Upon receiving our assignment, we decided to make a game that was simple enough, but still fun in VR. My partner Blaise, took the lead on modeling, and William took the lead on some of the design, and I took the lead on the game creation process.

CHESSTOR MODELING

Working with Unity was a new experience for me, and one that was rather frustrating towards the beginning. However, I began to learn how to use the Meta Quest 3 and Unity's Meta Quest SDK to create the game, and over the course of a couple weeks, I was able to put together a map with textures.

Once I got that down, it was about adding the game conditions, including the enemies, the timer, and the shooting system. This was the most challenging part of the game.
