The Journey of the Game
The core gameplay mechanics revolve around precise platforming, with players needing to time their jumps and movements carefully to navigate the levels. I chose this approach to emphasize skill and mastery, making the game accessible yet challenging.
The level design focuses on creating a flow that guides players through the vibrant cyberpunk world. Each level is crafted with unique challenges and aesthetics, encouraging exploration and experimentation. I aimed to create a sense of progression, with each level introducing new mechanics and visual elements, and then progressing to combine the elements and make each level more difficult.
The visual style draws heavily from cyberpunk aesthetics, featuring neon colors, a futuristic cityscape background, and a 2D aesthetic.
I implemented this gritty electronic music that complemented the cyberpunk aesthetic, creating an immersive atmosphere.
I conducted several playtesting sessions with peers and instructors, gathering valuable feedback on gameplay mechanics, level design, and overall enjoyment. This feedback led to multiple iterations, refining the game to enhance player experience and address any issues. Initially the game was actually far too difficult, but since then, I have made it a little easier.
